Great DVD Players for using at home or on the road even International June 13, 2010 H. Yang 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is great DVD Players for using at home or on the road especially for families who had 2 kids like us. They play all kinds of formats (DVD+-R/RW/SVCD/VCD/CD/MP3, etc) like other Philips players. Kids can share the same DVD or play their own movies separately.
Two AC power adaptor included (Power supply input is 100-240V~ 50/60Hz) for using at home or in the hotel and support PAL & NTSC.
Car adaptor and mounting strap included. Single cable connection for quick installation in the car. We got everything we need for the coming trip.
Excellent portable car dvd player June 27, 2010 A. mehran 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Researched everywhere for something like this as I did not want to pay the $1400 premium Audi charged. Battle tested for 600 miles. Can watch same or different videos. The units install easily and can be moved to different seats depending on where kids are sitting ie the 3rd row. My 9 yr old learned all the details very fast. Picture quality is good. 9inches of screen is excellent. No skipping on bumps. Went well with the KOSS childsize speakers also purchased from amazon. There is no battery in it so you have to either plug it into your cigarrette lighter or an electric outlet. That makes it light to carry. It does come with RGB cables but oddly enough it is not a typical RGB. There is one side that plugs into a DVD player and that divides into they usual yellow/red/white. The latter however has female ends and you need another RGB cable that is not included that has two male ends. Never seen that. Overall, kids love it. Adults too since you dont have to listen to kids programs on the car's speaker system if they dont want to use the wireless sets that come with preinstalled systems.
Fabulous! July 16, 2010 K. Anderson (California) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
We bought these DVD players for a 3.5 and 5 year old to watch on a 20 hour road trip. They worked fabulously, paused the DVD and saved the spot at every stop along the way when we had to turn the engine off, the kids loved the option to watch their own shows, no skipping, simply fabulous. We bought them to use with headphones. It was almost like taking a pleasant drive alone with my spouse; we hardly knew the kids were with us! Worth every braincell we killed with tube time just to keep our own sanity. jk :)
Great value for my money August 25, 2010 Paul Vail (Raleigh, NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought this for a 2 week road trip to keep a 9 yr old and 2 yr old distracted from the many miles. I was considering two iPads, but the cost was a lot. Looked at items in local stores and saw disappointing reviews. The thought of using my wife's and my laptops wasn't pleasant.
How very nice to have a product that worked so well for the task. We had two separate DVDs playing (few titles appeal to both ages now), and with some sony headphones, the kids were wrapped in their media with no complaints. This thing had a unique power cord for the cigarette lighter that powered both units. The strap around the base of the headrest worked perfectly. I bought the Sony Mdr-222Kd headsets, and aside from the 2 yr old taking great joy in shredding the foam off one when she was really bored, they worked well. I did get some little 3.5mm stereo extension cords so the line wasn't too short, and one of those cigarette 1-to-3 extension cords so we could use the GPS at the same time. Also bought a laptop bag with a divider so I could stow the players and their cords.
What I really liked was the versitility. The players could actually play one disc, and share the signal on both units. That worked great in camp one night when the little one wanted to watch in the tent, but we wanted to be outside.
Folks report that they stop working, but mine worked great. My kids aren't very rough on their electronics, but they are kids -- and they were thrilled. Aside from the flat tire, it may have been the most pleasant long haul we've made in a while.
Soooooo worth it! August 23, 2010 J. Reynolds (Louisiana) I purchased these dvd players just before taking a 13+ hour car journey with my two small sons. I have had a portable player for years that they shared, but there were always fights over what movie to watch, who got to pick the movie, how one was tilting it too far one way, and so on.
Let me just say that at one point just after making a pit stop, I whipped around to check that they were in the back seat because they were so quiet I thought I had left them at the gas station!
I compared so many, and read tons of reviews and decided on these, and I am glad I did.
I had no problems getting them set up, and my 7 and 5 year olds can work them completely on their own.
If I had a complaint, it would be that there is no remote.
